What Inspires Me: Exploration. Time to myself is becoming more and more rare commodity. I authentically enjoy long walks on the beach. I stare at the stars at night, I hike, I visit local museums. I generally go on adventures, sometime alone, sometimes with others. No matter where I go or what I do I always find something to connect with. Something even as simple as insects going about their business can fill me with excitement and awe. I also take time to explore the bounds of my own abilities, and my own creativity. I’m always trying something new just to get a taste of the experience. This is what gets me out of bed in the morning, what drives me. This is the type of inspiration that I hope to bring to Inspire the Muse.

What projects do you work on at ItM: Like a well placed rug, I tie the room together. I do a little bit of everything, and no part of ItM gets by without my layer of constructive criticism. More specifically, as CFO, I keep a record of the finances and other nitty gritty behind-the-scenes numerics. I am thereby half-jokingly referred to as “Reality Man.” As an active participant of the podcast, articles, and other miscellaneous adventures, I try to find the balance between unabated creativity and the cold calculating bureaucracy of running a business. I look forward to joining the Game Break series with my newly acquired Oculus Rift, as well as the development of my “Academy of Excellence” in the near future.

What personal creations have you completed: I very rarely “complete” anything that I work on. I am more of a “consistent incremental changes” kind of guy. I’ve written a few NaNoWriMo novels and am even editing one to publish. I have a few other really solid drafts I am constantly poking at. I take a lot of pictures but most of them are not stunning, or even noteworthy, but I’m learning how to up my game. I’ve been doing a lot of programming as well, but almost everything is in a stage of infancy. I once made a coil gun out of old electronics. Ideally I’ll be using Inspire the Muse to catapult all of my various projects into a completed state.

What creations from others do you appreciate: I’m an avid watcher of Asian Cinema, most notably Japanese horror/shock films, South Korean thrillers, Chinese comedy, and martial arts movies of any kind. The Good, the Bad, the Weird is an excellent reimagining of Sergio Leone’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Speaking of Japanese horror, I love horror of almost any kind. Let the Right One In might be my favorite movie of the last decade. I draw the line at simulated snuff. I prefer my films to have some substance. You know, substance, like Jason X, and Dead Alive. Okay fine, I like silly over-the-top splatter movies too.
